This weekend's plan of attack:

I got some new injectors off eBay, supposedly they are new OEM, but they were only $20/each so I'm doubtful. They look identical except they have a QR code on the side. If that fixes it, great. If not I'll try to identify the bad injector(s) and see if I can get it going.

If not fixed, I'm going to build one of those DIY smoke machines and smoke test the intake.

If still not fixed I'm going to pull the harness and have a new one made. This was someone else's project harness and you know what they say about buying someone else's project.

If still not fixed I'm going to set it on fire.

Awesome!!!! Let's see a picture of her on the road!

Soon. It's still all kinds of illegal, not insured, etc. so I've only driven up and down my street a couple of times.

She's a GMC now. I know my son doesn't like this grill but I need turn signals and stuff in order to get it inspected and he's in bed with the 'rona, so I gotta work before I get it. When it's all running and he's got his license he can either fix the old one or drive to the junkyard and swap it himself.

In other news, a 2 pack of 2357A bulbs is now $8 at autozone. I remember a bulb like that being 50 cents.

I bought some spray cans of 2k clear coat. If I can get the hood, tops of the fenders, and roof looking about 85% good as new I think it'll look pretty good overall. After that we just gotta get the whiskey dent out of the passenger cab corner as good as we can.

It won't win any car shows, but it'll look good enough for a first vehicle.

I've always been wanting to try the 2k aerosol, but never had. Are you going to only clear coat it? No base?

Watch Brian on Paint Society on YT. Lots of good advice. He did a fender once with Duplicolor from the parts store, topcoated with 2k aerosol. Turned out good. These hoods on these trucks are kind of large though.

I've got some scratches on my daily driver I may try this on. Also have to shoot a hood on another project truck I bought. That will require my full size gun.

It's been too cold here for any of that though.

Yeah, this is probably a task for the spring, but if we get a nice day and we can keep it to small areas we might be able to get it done sooner.

I think we're just going to clear it. When it's wet it looks pretty close to the same color all over. Close enough anyways. It just depends on if we can feather the edges of the clear without digging through the paint.

I am going to pick up a can of base coat for the cab corner because we will have to use some bondo on that.

I don't want to do a full spray and all the body work and sanding. I helped my friend paint his 69 442 in high school, once was enough. :)

Yeah, I agree. Body work and automotive painting is an art within itself.

My buddy does body work. I've asked him about doing only clear on existing finish. He tells me there's a risk of sometimes wrinkling the weathered finish. I would try a small area first, so you can feel comfortable and see how it turns out.
