Pulled my buggy upnorth just over a month ago. Pulled her in 3rd at about 65mph for an hour or so. Before that pulled an open place steel trailer several hours to the dunes during the summer. It takes a little while to get up to speed, but pulls decently.

So just curious when you put it in 3rd. Were your rpms around 2500 or 3?

Nothing extreme. Small u haul trailer and maybe some scrap. Nothing crazy. Figured I run it in 3rd gear and still take it easy. In the past we've always kept it on d. Figured I better place it safe this time and do what's recommended

With my 350, 3rd works best. The towing power works best from 2500-3200 rpms. OD drops it down below 2400 rpms, and the 350 just doesn't have much tq down there. It will tow in OD, it just feels under powered and sucks to drive. It does usually get 1 mpg better while towing in OD though. 7-9 mpg. Maybe better if you drive slow. Probably more than you wanted to know, but there it is haha.
