Let's see the 3rd! The way this post flows I figured this was your last one. That auto really sucks up the power, doesn't it? I don't suppose you dyno'd it stock? I have an 04 C5Z myself.

Most with longtubes make 375-385. I also have a 3" catless x-pipe, a ram air intake, air bridge, coupler, leaned out PE a little, and 20# less clutch than stock. I figure I ought to be on the high end of that. I have a mid sized cam for it, I want to see what it dynos after that. Hoping for 420 or better, but we all know the numbers tend to fall short of what we want. If I had to guess, your exhaust took on a more shrill note with the goodies?
Actually with my posting... I have been in hotel quarantine since Sunday with loads of free good internet. Flew offshore today, going to set a manifold for Chevron in 7200' water depth. Just got internet again. Nice car there, love the widebooty C5. Dyno #'s vary between manufacturers, I know my auto car would spin the tires up to about 45mph, the longtubes and SLP exhaust gave it a very throaty sound, I could hear my wife coming from a long way off. Would set off car alarms in a parking garage lol

Very nice '68 Corvette. Great colour too.

Yes it is! This independent rear axle/suspension with disc brakes was state of the art in 1963. Still pretty good all these years later....

For clarification, yes the independent rear suspension arrived with the new 1963 Corvette (C2). However, no disc brakes showed up until part way through the 1965 model year run. Then, until assembly plant supply ran out, drum brakes were offered as a 'substitution credit'. 316 of the 1965 Corvettes, built AFTER disc brakes became standard equipment in 1965, chose to save a few bucks ($64.50 to be exact) and miss out on the amazing improvement of disc brakes. I do remember, however, that some North Americans didn't trust disc brakes, just like they pooh-poohed radial types as an evil European invention. LOL.

Good catch! I forgot how the disc brakes didn't immediately come with the new axle/suspension. I hadn't heard about the substitution credit or that some 65s didn't have the 4 wheel discs.

Those 316 Corvettes built with drum brakes, AFTER disc brakes became available in the middle of the 1965 model year run, took advantage of RPO J61 which reduced the MSRP price of the car by $64.50.

You can see J61 on the attached 1965 Corvette options list...

Given that I've been a Corvette owner since 1967, I may as well post a link to mine...

Quite a few Vette guys on here, we like fine American Made Iron. The 67 is beautiful, love the mid year cars. Well, since this is a build thread, now I had to build a shop to keep my cars is, can't have a Corvette sleeping outside.
