Somebody remind me: What's the attraction to removing the ABS? I can think of a few reasons but none compelling.
I've read endless threads about how removing the ABS part that goes between the MC and proportioning valve greatly improves pedal feel. Additionally, some people like myself just don't like the feel of ABS when braking. Personally, I live somewhere that gets almost no ice so it hasn't exactly been useful, and I prefer my vehicles braking without it, so I plan to delete my ABS. You also need a scan tool to bleed the ABS system and that's just one extra thing complicating the truck that really doesn't need to be there if you know how to brake without locking it up.

While I understand you wanting better brake feel, many people bastardize their brake systems without correcting the actual problems.

Make sure your brake system is in good shape. No leaky wheel cylinders, no cracked brake hoses, no rusted brake lines.

If you have the JB3 brake setup, switch out your master cylinder, front rotors, and front calipers for JB5s. The JB3s really aren't adequate for our trucks.

Adjust your rear brake shoes. Misadjusted shoes cause horrendous brake slack on our trucks.

Bleed the brakes thoroughly. Since you have ABS, you'll need to get the ABS valves open. Depending on your ABS setup, there are different methods.

Buy decent brake pads. "GG" friction code pads are readily available and cheap.
