I have a 94 c1500 and I have checked engine trouble codes by jumping the A and B pins on ALDL port before. Now the check engine light will come on when Ign is on, but when I try to enter diagnostic mode the check engine light does not flash code 12 as usual it just stays on.

The "12" code says that your ECH is OK. If You're not getting that I'd be looking at the connectors to the ECM under the glove box and hoping a good solid wiggle of the connectors helped fix it. But I'm guessing you're beyond that now,,,

Code 12 isn't literally that the ECM/PCM is "OK" - it is an error code meaning there's no reference pulse from the distributor, which is what you expect to get with key on, engine off since the distributor isn't turning. We take it as an indication of "OK" because it means the ECM/PCM is communicating with us.

I would double check that you are jumping the correct pins. Top row on the connector, the 2 pins to the far right end.

Hey! Thanks Man. I'm pretty new to the computing level of twisting wrenches. All info and corrections are appreciated. Enjoy!

Also, when you turn the key on the SES light should light once, then go out and light again steady until you start the engine. If it doesn't flash that one time, odds are the ECM has issues.

I'd be looking for a broken/disconnected wire at/near the ALDL connector.

My dime is on a disconnected/broken ground wire from Cavity A. But a broken/disconnected wire from Cavity B would do the same thing.
