Are you wanting a " P " rated ply tire passenger or a " LT " rated tire, having more cords or plys being a heavier construction, therefore higher load rating.

heres the tire size calculator I use. its great because it gives you a couple different views of the tires so you can get a good idea what the difference looks like. it also gives you all the other details. the tires on my burb are 3.9% larger and cover 3.9% more ground and so the speedo is off by that much as well. well, I just used a GPS app to figure out how far off my speedo was and it didnt line up with that 3.9%. it was actually slightly slower than the speedo. weird huh, as its covering more ground at the same rpm.... well that was good info to know. no wonder inwas getting passed all the time. LOL

Just check your speedo with gps app, dont guess.

I think the difference in height is .18" taller on the 255. So not enough to make a large difference.

I ran the 255s on my '95 RCSB Sierra.

I’ve had 275/60/15 and 31x10.5x15. Tried 32 and 33s and they would require fender cutting. 31x10.5x15 are the biggest you can go with no lift. Assuming you’re stock height. 245/60/15 will fit.

Look at the load rating for the tire you want then multiply by 4. your suv should be about 4500 pounds dry. T give you a example my crown Vic runs Michelin passenger tires in 225/60/16. The load rating is 1653 pounds at 44 psi per tire. That means my 4 tires can hold 6612 pounds. My CV weighs about 4200. add say…450 pounds for gas fluids driver and whatever stuff I got in the car fir a total 4650 pounds. Well below the full capacity of the tires.
