If you’re looking to sell this is the best time to sell. Once the supply catches up and cheap money goes away used car market is gonna crash
There's a whole bunch of new trucks being stored at various places around the country, eventually they will be available to buy. That's when the bottom will fall out of the used vehicle market.
I think OBS trucks will still hold value for a few years yet though. Squares are declining in value, ours are increasing.

Wasn’t able to post this here so thought I’d just comment. I just saw someone trying to sell a Humvee for 85000 on Craigslist. XD

I think it will be a long time for the supply to catch up, but when it does I’m gonna ****** up a nicer 400.
As soon as the chip issue gets fixed these already made cars are gonna get shipped out to dealers with DEEP discounts cause they’re gonna blow them out. I don’t think the supply is gonna take that long to catch up once they get the needed chips.. Manufacturers don’t make their money selling a small quantity and most people aren’t gonna wait 12/16 weeks to get a truck. That’s why they're jumping in the used truck market. Once new stuff is available they are either gonna dump the old truck or possibly keep as back up if they got the room or money. Lots of vehicles get sold on impulse. I mean how many people go to a dealer “just looking” and walk out with a car? dealers and dealer sales staff are starving. They aren’t making money selling 20 trucks a month with a 12 week wait time.

Because once the chip issue is fixed they will ramp up production. Remember at full production capacity I think they said that a F150 was being sold every minute in the US. I’m pretty sure that a Chevy or GMC was selling at about the same rate.

The GMT400 platform may have some value but it’s gonna be certain model configurations that’s gonna take precedence over other models. Limited production stuff like 454ss, SierraGT, Sport or SLT/SLE packages, Crews, duallies short beds, step sides and single cabs.….so some trucks will always carry some value especially as time goes on and these trucks get wrecked, stolen and stripped, owners get financially stronger and buy newer trucks. I mean plenty of these in junkyards every day. Once supply dries up these things will see higher prices that are based on rarity. I doubt they will ever get the prices a muscle car or a old 20-70s truck but nostalgia is a powerful sale tool. Older guys today wanted a 454SS when they were young so if they got the money someone will sell them one.

as for keeping the truck forever I know very few people who actually still have a vehicle that they kept forever. As a rule most people eventually sell, donate or give away a vehicle. There are always exceptions but as a rule most people don’t keep cars forever.

With all these new trucks sitting for months waiting for a chip I wonder how much damage is being done to them by rodents ? Eating the wiring and such.

I would doubt very many. Probably sit in asphalt lots and with no food around I doubt many animals would settle into them. Who knows could be completely wrong though lol
