IF I get a crate, whats the deal with 2 bolt or 4 bolt main? I have a 5.7 L31 and looking for something that will bolt right up to what I already have. The 383 is out of my price range. Sorry for stupid questions... all new to me.

It’s not all as hard as it seems at first and honestly if your not super worked up about it needs to be done today and the block is still fine. You could just have a machine shop turn it into a 383 for you and have them reman the heads or get other vortec heads and have them remanned. It will be a lot cheaper that way. I think for my stroker kit it was around 1000 plus tax and than 1200 for the clearancing boring honing cleaning and resurfacing. I had my heads resurfaced and clearanced for more lift for 400. As long as you do a lot of research most things are accomplishable. Also look up how to set proper lash for pushrods before you put them back in. Best way to learn is to just do it IMO.Merry christmas

Seems doable. There's a machine shop near me I'm gonna call them on Monday and see what they say. Would love a 383.

Definitely be willing to research a lot to figure out what works for you if your going to do a 383 you will want to find another cam and honestly I called comp cams to get a recommendation for mine. You will need new lifters and pushrods which for the pushrods you will need to measure them with a checker it’s pretty simple and easy to look up. There’s a lot more into it than I make it seem but it’s a fun process and the best way to learn.
