Hello All,

I just bought a 1994 GMC 2500 suburban with the 7.4 454 in a 2wd. Cannot find the combined weight rating for tow vehicle and trailer.

Any help appreciate, thank you.

Here's the maximum GCWR the transmission was rated for: https://www.dieselhub.com/trans/4l80e.html

I think in your case it's going to depend on your axle ratio. Do you have your owner manual? Find your axle ratio and see what maximum towing capacity is. Then add your GVWR.

For example, if your towing is listed as 9,500# and your GCWR is 8,600#, then GCWR is the sum of those numbers.

Right, axle ratio. Have to check the book. This was designed to be a tow rig. 4l80e transmission with the full float rear end. The back window doesn't even have a wiper or defrost. I believe it has 3.73 or 4.11 gearing.

Thank you for your help. I will check and post back. Merry Christmas. Going to fire college shortly, see you soon!

Have you looked on drivers door jam, tire size and weights. Glove box door has weight ratings when built, delivered.
