Hi all,

I am the new owner of a super clean K2500 Suburban with the 7.4 liter. Love this truck!

My son and I road tripped it home from Florida to Pennsylvania. Truck ran perfect but the front heat sucked. AC is ice cold, front and rear, rear heat will melt eyeballs.

Got it home, heater core was nice and toasty, HVAC control unit is new, so I replaced the temperature blend door actuator. Didn’t get any better. Pulled it apart again and manually adjusted temperature blend door to make sure it operates with a screw driver and boom- heat was super hot! I figured it was a faulty actuator so grabbed another one- same deal.

So I know what the problem is but I have no idea how it happened nor how to fix it. The limits of the actuators don’t align with the blend door limits. Let’s say the blend door rotates between 2 and 4’o clock but the actuators want to operate between 3 and 7. The actuators won’t turn the blend door far enough for full heat.

I’m incredibly confused. Doesn’t look like anybody was ever in the dash and the temp blend door rotates freely between hot and cold with no restrictions.

Any input? I’m happy to post pictures but I’m not sure what they’d show.

So never mind- I took apart the actuator apart and adjusted the internals to work in the limits I need after I figured out how it worked haha. Front is now melting eyeballs as well.

My gut says the actuator that’s sold for temp and mode is actually only for mode. Doesn’t explain why the one that was in there didn’t align either, but whatevs.
