I'm about $300 into my gf Yukon exhaust, long tubes with 1 7/8 ports to 3", 3" y pipe and all 3" with TWO knock off single chamber mufflers. Sounds awesome, "almost" too loud for daily driving, but the good part is I didn't do it for sound, it's proven power that way on a LS. I'm sooooo tired of hearing the garbage straight pipes ppl here are running, one guy with a 4.8 no cats,no mufflers stock y and out to duals ,on each side of truck, or the guy down the road true duals 3" on a 6.0....straight garbage and can u say SLOW??? The 6.0 can hardly get out of its own way! Lotsa guys running 5.7s with nothing in-between nd it's all noise and no go. I had to make a point with my gf Yukon, dynoed at 406 rwhp about 2 weeks ago. Only bolt ons and my time tuning it. Do urself (and everyone around u ) a favor, get a cutout, and for the love of God put a muffler on ur truck!

All sound no go, ha! I really like the way my 383 sounds with only 3" thunderbolt spun metallic core race cats between the thorley tri-y header collectors and the 3" cutouts. Dual 3" all the way and no crossovers. Dual in/single out muffler after the cutouts. It absolutely thunders when you give it some throttle though.

Same engine running open headers with a modified Q-Jet and a dual plane intake.

Backpressure has no place in a performance exhaust system.

406 whp without a cam? Come on now! My buddies heads/cam LQ4 with long tubes and a TBSS intake makes about 350 whp through a 4L80E with a locked converter. Full bolt-on NNBS 5.3 I tuned made about 290 whp. LQ9 with an intake, 87mm throttle body and magnaflow catback exhaust made about 310 whp.

I too had to do an open header startup just because it just has to be done.

The cam wasn't in when I did exhaust, was the next weekend it not put in with efans and flex fuel injectors , but still u have no idea how slow the two trucks I was talking about are! Urs sounds good and isn't a stock vehicle with only the exhaust cut off tho

Years ago when my 454ss was still considered a newer truck slp sold a true mandrel bent stainless 3” exhaust system.

That’s what’s on my truck still to this day. It’s been on there over 20 years.

Previously it had 2 1/4” dual exhaust on it.

The dual 3” made a huge difference in low end tq.

What tank are you using behind the axle? Fuel cell or Suburban tank?
It is a factory location for a tahoe. Tahoe tank would likely fit easier in the back of a truck than a suburban tank. Common swap on squarebody trucks to use blazer/jimmy fuel tank.
