my buddy is not responding to my texts but he claimed there was a junkyard that seemed to specialize in these old trucks or at least had them all organized and in one area. that could he the place but if it isn't I'll get back to you with a name.

yeah I dont know.... I have an extra one but its attached to a transmission and not really extra.... 18" is not very long, that wouldnt even make it to the engine bay. somethings wrong there.

Thank you! It's not really urgent or anything, I can move the truck around the yard without it, but it'd be nice to check it off the to-do list.

the one I have here from my 97 Burb k1500 is also apx. 32" long.

Hey man, I didnt believe that amazon dipstick was only 18".... so I did some digging. Usually Summit Racing has all of the details and is very handy. but they didnt however down in the reviews someone says its 3" shorter than oem. another person further asked exactly how long is it and someone replied 29".

that 18 inches is wrong. that would put the tube behind the bellhousing back where we cant reach our hands between the firewall and the engine.

I'll double check when I get home, maybe those last 3 inches aren't important enough to worry about. I'm pretty sure the hash marks are well above that line

you will have to use the entire dipstick though and that can be a bit of a PITA! I have swapped 2 transmission before. fun fun. you need to really clean the area, pull the grommet out, lub up the grommet with atf and push it halfway into the hole then push the dipstick tube into place you should feel it all kind of 'snap together.'

I think I would keep trying to find a used one myself.
