Hi all. I've had a run of bad luck and my transmission dipstick lock shattered in my hand. I am trying to find a replacement but I'm having a lot of difficulty finding one in stock on Rockauto, etc. Particularly since I need it shipped to Canada. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

I've checked the wreckers near me, and anything this old is long past saving.
Apologies for putting this in the wrong spot, I wasn't sure since the dipstick is technically under the hood.
Thank you for your reply

so you dont need the tube and just the dipstick?

Man RA shipping is outrageous, actually almost shipping anything from the US is not worth it over that last 2-3 years.

have you heard of www.partsavatar.ca ? they are Canadas version of RA and they are pretty damn good and reliable. unfortunately they do not have a dipstick in stock.

I would look for a pick n pull scrap yard for this, I'm not sure where abouts you are but Iv heard there is a really good gmt400 yard in or around Kitchener Ontario. Iv never been there but the guy I bought my sierra from had been there a few times as he lived near it. I dont and it would be a 3 hour drive....

Schurkey is right about the stealership, your local dealer should be able to get this or stock this part.

I disagree that a 20 plus year old dipstick is not worth saving.... or do you mean they crush these trucks? fùckers if the do. they crush all the Burbs around me since they are so heavy, they dont even let them sit in the yard. stupid.

Yeah I've yet to see one of these in a yard. Except the ones with no front suspension, exhaust, rad, etc. They might not be crushed but they're in rough shape.

I use PartsAvatar all the time! They've got a great selection of stuff, but not this part.
And yeah I literally need just the dipstick. The lock on the thing shattered like glass when I tried to check the fluid.
I'll give the local dealership a call, hopefully they can get one for me

where abouts are you in Canada? are you in Ontario? I found what I think is the junkyard my buddy used and they have dozens of 1995 transmissions. which since this is a 1 year only transmission and rare-ish this has to be the place I was thinking of.

Yeah I'm around 1.5 hours north of Toronto, this might be a viable option if a bit of a drive.
