I went out and jumped into Brute to run to town and it did not want to start. And when it finally fired up, it was missing really bad....great...just great.

I limped it up to the garage and started poking around. Finally popped the distributor cap and it looked like a Hollywood house party in there! Nothing but white powder everywhere!!!! Well...huh....never seen anything like that before. I blew it out real good and cleaned most of the fuzzy white corrosion as best I could. It fired right up after I got it back together. I had checked the cap and rotor right after I got it and it wasn't like that. I am guessing the dizzy vent is clogged. Has anyone else seen this before?

I got on Rock Auto and ordered a new vented cap and rotor with brass contacts. I also ordered new plugs and PCV valve. I'll pop everything in and see how she runs.

Should help a bunch! My Burb wasn't running that bad when I replaced the cap and rotor, but it ran great afterwards. Even with intermittent CEL it idles smooth enough you have to look at the tach to be sure it's running.

The cap/rotor I ordered was United Motor Products # DCR 820X. I have never heard of the brand but the reviews looked good. I also ordered the Delco # 41-993 plugs.

With winter coming soon, I need all the help I can get for sub-zero mornings.

United Motor Products is the current best source for distributor caps.

On another thread we wondered about the possibility of making the caps in clear plastic, but they declined because they can't make the clear plastic strong enough.

Thanks for the feed back on the poly mounts. Love this forum! Think my cab mounts are rotted out and after 30 years I'm sure all should be replaced. Truck looks great, will be pulling bed on mine over winter.
