Need more room, can this be deleted?

Can the brace below the hood latch be deleted as pictured?
Of course I would reinforce the latch itself and not move it.

That is what the hood latch bolts to. The slot on the left is the safety catch. I suppose you could cut off the bottom below the safety catch and brace it, but that is asking for the hood to come open at a freeway speeds. i Wouldn’t trust it without hood pins and those aren’t the most visually appealing things.

My big question is why? There is more than enough space to mount anything you'd need w/o cutting that out.

That hood latch support keeps the lower and upper radiator support in place and the hood closed in the event of a collision or rollover.

Knowing what you're trying to cram in there might help with someone posting alternate methods. Better trans coolers can be purchased, electric fans that go on the radiator side etc.
