Kind of wondering, I used to have fog lights made by Pilot mounted under my bumper as you can see in my sig pic.( Until they got ripped off when i slid off the road) And they did absolutely nothing to help with the fog, snow ,rain etc. My hids were just so bright that they would reflect everything back at me, and the fogs didnt help at all. What are some good fogs that really cut through ****.

And where is usually the best place to mount them?

Im buying fog lights to actually use, Not for looks. So i want them to work.

I bought a set of OEM in valance fogs off a member of another forum. By far made the most difference to the amount of light on th road than anything else I'd tried.
I also have the Z71 (Diesel) bumper with the cut-outs (standard on ALL Australian Burbs) so am looking for a set of OEM's to put in there. Anyone seen what the brackets look like? Wouldn't mind knocking some up out of stainless.

Yes that z71 front bumper with the cut outs for the fog lights I’ve always liked and I’m sure GM/CHEVY did enough R&D to have placed them there of all spots plus nothing low to be dragged!

Denali/Escalade gmt400 fog lights are not “light omitting” fogs more for looks played off the 99 deville body style. My leds drown them out which I wish they didn’t but I don’t like newer gmt800 fogs as they were all the same in Chevy, gmc, caddy:( even though I have leds in fogs also. But gmt800 fogs use gmt400 low beam bulb as why they’re so bright even brighter than the headlights!

Not on our 06 Yukon XL Denali, they're different bulbs. Ours got water in the lenses (because Houston high water)and fried the bulbs, so I had to take them apart and clean everything, and put new bulbs in. Don't remember the# but they're not 9005/9006 like the headlights. The 400s like the Burb have different bulbs for high beam and low beam, but the later trucks ( at least this one) use 9005 for all 4. Which is good when you have to replace one at least once a year...kept a spare one in the storage compartment in the cargo area, along with the other spare bulbs.

Rigid lights are worth it. Hell of an old thread to bring back though.
