I was replacing my spark plug wires, dist. cap and rotor earlier. After I was done, the truck ran great so I took it on a drive. After a few minutes the engine lost power for a split second, but continued running.

I pulled into a parking lot, check everything in the engine area and didn't see anything obvious, so I kept driving. A few minutes later I pulled into another parking lot, and checked for any codes. I had two, both for the MAF; P0102 and other I don't remember.

So I checked the MAF figuring I didn't connect the sensor properly. When I went to push it in firmly and move the wires over a bit and the engine died. I restarted the engine and moved the wires again, engine dies again.

I'm guessing the pigtail at the MAF is internally damaged? The wires coming off the MAF for about 4 inches to the main harness is fairly stiff.

Any of you had an issue like this?

It should run without the MAF. The PCM will switch to speed density. When I had MAF issues it was the MAF itself. That's kinda weird that you have stiff wires. I'm curious what the other code is. Do you have the means to read live MAF data? That was one of the ways, I knew mine was bad... it was reading way low. I also had access to another MAF, and swapping in the known good MAF made the problem completely go away, including the live data reading. After figureing all that out, I bought a "new" OEM MAF at the salvage yard.

I'll have to check the other code in the morning. I think it's a open circuit or no activity from what I remember. I think my code reader can show MAF data, but will have to confirm that. Occasionally I'll get a code, I think P0102. Usually cleaning the MAF will make the code go away. The engine dying is a new thing. I don't even know where to begin with that one...
