Hey all! I'm new here, but have always loved my OBS's. (Surprised this name wasn't taken) I just bought a beautiful 88 GMC, however it needs both driveshafts, I've already got the front, but in having a time finding a rear.

Does anyone know how long the driveshaft for this truck would be? I can't find any junkyards in my area with a truck this wheel base. If need, I'll get one from a 2wd and cut and weld it.

Thanks in advance!

That's because very few people love TBIs :anitoof:. I like mine, ha ha!
Sorry I can't help you with your drive shaft but, welcome anyway:biggrin:

I have an '88 Chevy K1500 regular cab, long box, TH700. I can measure U-joint to U-joint later today.

U-joint to U-joint, 55 inches. Plus yoke poking into the transfer case, of course.

I took out the 8.5" rear axle, in favor of the larger 9.5" axle. My stock driveshaft could be ~1/4" shorter to be "perfect", but it works as-is. If you have plans to upgrade to the better axle, have the shaft made 54 3/4 inches instead of 55.

Thank you. but that still doesn't add up. The measurement I got was 59 inches from the edge of the TCase, to the front of the yoke. I'll continue looking :)

Do you have a yoke in the tcase? If not that would account i assume for the the extra that you have vs what shurkey has.
