also, there was a short wheel base sport side (step side) truck made in both promo and retail kits, as well as the SS454 which was a short wheel base fleetside box.
Then if I wanted to get even closer, there was a 1992 kit for the SWB fleetside "sport" truck - but it wasn't a 4x4 ;)
You right-I was more into muscle cars than trucks(when I was young lol) so I didn't follow truck models too much.

I just recently bought a mint '70 promo model - it's pictured here on the far left;
Beside it is a '71 promo kit, and a '73 promo kit.
I also recently bought a damaged '70 promo kit that will probably become my '70 (Carousel Red Formula 400)
I have one '75 retail kit awaiting a rebuild, and a second partial '75 kit.
I rebuilt a '76 retail kit that my uncle built when he was a kid about thirty years ago! (time sure does fly!!)

The Tahoe is the only one that is 4x4 IIRC. I had one of the unbuilt promo models in blue, that I got when they first came out. Didn't have a real 400 series truck yet, so I didn't hang on to all the kits I had back in the day. My crystal ball must be a Ford LOL.
If you could get ahold of the Tahoe and the shortbed pickup (the 454SS is a fleetside and the other RCSB is a sportside), they might be close enough to kitbash. I'll ask my buddy at the model car club meeting Friday.....he used to have an 89 GMC sportside that got stolen and stripped. He got it back, but didn't keep it long as it had lots of problems....and this forum didn't exist yet! He still misses it, but now has a 75 step side that he's fixing up.
