The guts of my 95 extended cab are FILTHY. i cannot Express how bad.

I have a feeling that the rental upholstery cleaner wont do the job on the carpet, and ill wind up pulling it to use a pressure washer.

Will i have to pull the rear extended cab plastic panels as well? Every plastic piece on this thing is super brittle, so im trying to disturb as little as possible.

We managed to get the carpet out without taking out the back side panels, but it was third-door 98. The edge just tucks under the driver side panel on that one.

I’d try it, starting from the back. Worst case, it doesn’t work but I’d bet that you’d be fine.

Pressure washer works pretty good, by the way, and you can avoid soaking most of the bottom fabric matting if you’re careful. If I had it to do over again and wanted to spend the money, I’d just replace all of it with new.

I know this is a bit of an old thread, but I was wanting to do this same thing with my Blazer. After painting the carpet how does it feel? Does it feel factory or does it turn really stiff? I have the light grey interior and was wanting to clean it and paint it a little bit darker grey.

If you comb it, paint it, comb it, paint it, etc., it feels pretty normal. I have a few months wear on the carpet now, and it's going to need a couple more coats, but that's why I chose the cheap stuff that's readily available at O'Reillys. I can get more any time.

So, answer of the original question :
Front seats, seatbelts, kick panels, sill plates, rear seat, jack tray, and rear lower panels all come out to pull the extended cab carpet. Its no a quick and easy job.

Also if you use pressure washer then the rubber base may start crackin-or rather it will show cracks. It won't affect it-won't disintegrate-just so you're aware. And I ended up replacing padding with foam carpet underlay-some people say it's not necessary but my opinion is that no amount drying will get rid of a smell-but maybe my nose is just sensitive.
