Put some time into trimming and fitting the salvaged hood's leading edge of the roof skin to fit the cab. Quite a bit of patience went into this, I'll give it a one more look over and begin to prep the interior section for paint. Then it's time to weld!

Welded up the roof skin, ground it all flush and prepped the entire ‘top’ of the cab from firewall to rear glass for paint

scrubbing it clean, grinding it down, epoxy primer, cab mounts and bumper brackets

Finished up the filler work on the roof, threw down three coats of epoxy over it then got the cab flipped over with the help of few good friends

Got a windshield installed today! Probably not in the correct order of events but with paint and all but I’m really happy with the result.
Finally installed the compass/temp rear view mirror that I’ve had in a box for many years

Doing a bit of sitting and staring at the project this morning, trying to get things in order. The windshield looks great and really amps up the motivation to keep moving forward.

I cleaned up all the ecoat off of the replacement rockers and cab corner steel then sprayed four coats of epoxy primer on the inside of everything. The outer floor/backing plate area was replaced by me a few months back, I cleaned up the ecoat there as well and will epoxy prime that once the metal work is acceptable. It's almost time to join it all together.

Passenger Rocker

After what felt like months of prepping the cab, outer floor, and the new rocker panel, I have started to put all the pieces together.

Three coats of epoxy primer were sprayed on the outer cab floor 'inside' the rocker area then welding commenced getting the new metal in place. Buttweld's was done to the front section and plug welds alone the front, top, and bottom of the rocker. I need another weekend to finish up the rear cab corner area.

Last year some point before I cut off all of the old metal I made this simple jig that bolted into the factory seat mount. It had some scrap cardboard screwed to it to show me the height and the depth of the poem rocker. This helped me position the new sheet metal in the correct 3d location after so much of the floor was cut out and replaced. In hind sight I should have made it a few feet wide to also capture the shape of the third door area but no harm was done, I just mounted the door and weather stripping to figure that end out.

Some more work into the passenger rocker panel, this stuff is difficult. On one hand, I am impressed with my effort but on the other hand, I sit back and say to myself 'all that time, effort, and money, and the end result is meh...'. Keeping a positive attitude...

The rocker has been cleaned up and covered in SPI Epoxy Primer. My butt welds require some light filler work in the visible areas to smooth them out. I gotta do something with the warping of the underside of the rocker. I had way too much heat into the plug welds and caused the long length of the extended cab panel to buckle in the transition to the third door section.

I test fit the third-door and prepared the cab corner metal to go on. Getting the door gap 'better than nothing' is possible but will require a few hours of hammering.

I just want to get the doors on this thing and get it outside and onto the frame. I'm going to have a multi-colored truck for while I get the Cummins drivetrain figured out.
