$500/wheel? Yeah, that's definitely an "eff off" price. Don't bother having them painted, think about what bugs do to the front end of a vehicle over time, and now think of all the rocks your wheels will see. Find a powdercoater who actually wants your business and get a real quote. I'd imagine it will be somewhere around $500 for the set.

Not sure what wheels you have and if they are chrome or aluminum but, I have had a lot of luck playing with plasti-dip. It sticks to chrome and aluminum and if you get sick of it, you can just peel it off as long as you put it in thick. I use a pressure washer... saves the hands. Had a set of chrome 22 Escalade wheels that I did in black and they looked awesome. I'd change it up now and then. Depending on the wheel, they might look good in gold too... never know unless you try. Can try a few colors before you lock it in with powder or paint.

Thinking of the plastic coat but it’s so common people doing black. I never see colors. Will definitely look into this more. Thanks man. These are brand new aluminum rims. Supposed to be in today or tomorrow

Another question for you guys on tire sizes. Going with 20s and I want wider in rear but how wide can I go before there’s issues, 275s?? Trying to stay about stock tire diameters so thinking 235/50-55 front and at least 265/45 rears. My rims are 9 inches wide so that could be an issue even if I have room for really big. Initially I was wondering if I could squeeze a 295 in there but doubt that would fit on a 9 inch wide rim. See newer trucks are commonly running 265/50 all the way around so....

Welcome to your new BFF: https://tiresize.com/calculator/

Tire size has so many variables. it starts with size and back spacing on wheels then the measurements can be taken from there. Don't be scared to put the truck on stands and bust out a measuring tape. Thats the only way. Its so hard for people to give advice without details on wheel specs.

Progress report. Started on rear first at about 11am and had to wrap up early at 4ish with only 2 of the 4 bolts in spring perch by gas tank left. It is all together just not tight. We pulled the box. Gas neck mount was a casualty. 2 of the 3 screw mounts just spun around and broke out of the plastic. Front ground strap was pretty corroded and broke as bolt turned. Guys helping me were so gung ho and dove in instantly so I never did measurements before. Barely had time to organize and get all my tools I brought out of the truck and they were taking box bolts out.

Front spring hangers were as bad as I feared and leaf spring bushings and bolts were essentially one with the springs. Excited at first when the nuts came right off but that ended real fast when 5 of the 6 bolts wouldn’t even turn. All 6 were horrible and 3 of the 6 had to be cut out. What wasn’t cut out was removed with brute force. Here’s some before pictures but not really sure they are good for much of anything. That grease included with the Urethane bushings is as sticky of stuff as I’ve ever dealt with! Had to rush home so will get after pictures before box goes back on

May just wrap up the back tomorrow and wait till next Wednesday to move to the front. Have to talk it over with the guys. Don’t want to get to 7 o’clock tomorrow night and still be in pieces in buddies dads garage. If leaf spring bushings were that bad wondering how bad control arms could go so I want to have a whole day allowed for that.
