Can always have a used wheel wrapped with fresh leather.

Some guys in Latvia do crazy work, can completely modify the shape, flat bottom, fist grips, etc. All sorts of material options.

It would be about $1k shipping to and from and the work.

If I was going to chase a used airbag/cap assembly for the Grant reproduction wheel, would you be able to advise what years of trucks would be suitable donors? Thank you for your time. Better yet, where can/should I go to look up this info
Judging by the one in your other thread, I believe it's the large airbag, so you would have to look for the years 95-97. 98-99 Classic has the smaller (uglier) airbag, otherwise known as the Second Generation Airbag.

You must be registered for see images attach

For airbags, I would check salvage yards for them. They might be willing to sell you one. The only thing I would be afraid of is that airbag might burst at any given time since it's not hooked up, but then again, so can any.

Edit: welp, it's not showing the image of the airbag, here's the url: https://consumerguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/95124111000211.jpg

Hi folks, Plan A hasn't turned out for me.

I am now in the market for a decent non airbag leather steering wheel for my 99 GMC 2500 that I intend to send to someone to have it recovered. Thanks in advance. Cheers

This is a fellow upholstery guy that does beautiful leather recovering of steering wheels. Not an aspect of this trade that I feel proficient enough at to actually charge for!
He's down here in Chilliwack.

Hi Sewlow.
Thanks, when I find a donor wheel I will approach him to do the work. A while back, I think you mentioned you knew where to find one of these odd non-air bag wheels - any chance you still have a lead on one? Cheers, Mark

I have a few wheels, both with large & small centers. None are non-airbag, though.
But my shop & house contents are all packed into a 16'x20' storage unit, stacked 8' high (!) right now.
(Long story/short version. Between the first shut-down & then just as things were getting going again, a car accident at the end of July. I haven't produced anything since last March. Had to return 2 years worth of projects to customers, with deposits.
Time to downsize. Sold the big house on acreage with the 2.5 vehicle shop. Haven't found anything to purchase yet that meets my needs. Living at Sis's.)
...and the shop contents was the first to be put into the storage locker. That wasn't supposed to be the plan! I told the guys helping..."House stuff on one side, shop on the other." I was still packing at the house when they started to unload at storage.
They didn't listen.
I can't even get to my toolbox let alone find steering wheels! Aaarrghhh!!!

Thanks. Appreciate the sentiments!
I've done a lot of floor-pacing in the middle of the night over the last year.
I'll get through this. Still healthy so I ain't complaining.
Well...I do have one complaint.
Still vehicle-less! Been working on the LS swap in my '98 at buddy's. In the meantime, driving Sis's Grand Caravan. Ewww. NOBODY'S cool in a van! ...and a Mopar, no less.
So hard to do when my blood runs Chevy Orange.
