A Truetrac would be perfect for the front! It would unload like the factory diff but then do its thing when the passenger axle engaged.
I agree if they existed. Eaton doesn't list it as fitting. I think I'll call them tomorrow to find out why. I would love to have them in Frank.

Oh, yeah, well the good news is it should be pretty normal if it's not digging.

I wonder if they don't realize it fits or they just never tried?

Thanks Frank. I'll swap the carriers and leave the gears where they are. The govlock should work nicely up front. I've still got it torn apart. Work and kids and wife make it hard to get anything done.
Yes.. the front upper shock mount was pretty rusted. I'm not sure if it was from jumping it a few years back or from neglect and corrosion.. or a combination. She was a handful trying to slow down from a datalogging high speed pull. Pulling hard to the left and wandering all over the road at 140. I think I'll change to the u joint steering shaft while I'm in there. I'm sure my rag joint is screwed.

I've been wanting to do the same thing. Tthe only issue I found has been the lack of a groove in the side gear, but I'm not sure it even matters. Have you had any progress on it?

I was warned about putting any type of traction device up front. If my garage ever gets concrete, I have 90% of the parts to SAS my Yukon. I got a Powerlock for a Dana 44 years ago. Not only can it brake shafts, but when locked tough to steer. You say you only need it for a "one time application" (going thru mudhole) but what If you need 4 low for slow speed stuff? Could put the posi lock so would have independent control. I've been offroading for years, always wanted and sometimes needed all 4 wheels to spin, but only way to do it and be able to use it is with front disconnect. Think twin stick NP205.

There are a few front locker builds that blame tie rods for failures. But generally from what I have seen, the aluminium housing can't support side loads of a locker that well.
