I bought a Borgenson shaft for my 99 Suburban. I did have to cut that little nipple thing off for the u joint to sit fully down on the splines.

One on the adjacent “flat” of the tube, so 90 I guess. No real reason why I did it that way but it works with no issues.

Worked like a charm, at least while sitting in the garage LOL. The only thing I did differently was add jam nuts. Thanks again.

That’s a really good idea with the jam nuts. If mine walk out for whatever reason, I’ll give that a shot as well.

Not sure how many people have seen this so I just wanted to share. Cunningham Machine is now making replacement steering shafts (lower half only for '95+) for these trucks that eliminate the factory rag joints.

Includes – 1 1988-94 (Old Body Style ONLY) Steering Shaft

Talk about shooting themselves in the foot.

What the hell is "Old Body Style" in '88? Clearly, that's the squarebody as used on the SUVs, not the GMT400 as used on the pickups. Could they be any LESS clear about what this fits?

Once again, I proclaim my distaste of using the terms "Old body style (OBS) and "New body style (NBS) and New-new body style (NNBS). The terms become ambiguous over time.

'Cause if you own a GMC you're just out of luck.

Maybe this is a fine product, but the web-site needs real work.

Holy crap! $200? Please, explain to me again why you wouldn't just put an XJ shaft on instead? Ten bucks and ten minutes to get it at the junkyard, another thirty minutes to install it at home.

I got one on ebay for $35ish shipped to my door. THe time to drive, gas, and lay in the mud in the junkyard was worth the $25 bucks.
