My cousin in the 80s was a heavy equipment mechanic for our Armed Forces and put a 454 into a Chevy Chevette. What the F-?

I went to a Super Chevy Show back then, and saw a couple of Chevettes like that.... well they could have been small blocks, too, as I likely wouldn't have known the difference. Cheap, light weight car.... just enough to get wheels attached to the engine.

A friend, in the early '70s, had a V-8 [SBC] Vega.

At that same time, there was a kit made that put a SBC right in the middle of a '65-'69 Corvair. I've never stopped wanting one-- fast and nimble both.

I love fast station wagons! Stings a little extra getting spanked by a wagon! If you had tv show worthy skills and or $$$, I'd say get a front wheel drive 5.3 Chevrolet police car and do a mid engine rear wheel drive conversion.
The fwd cop cars are V6 Impalas. The Caprices are 6.0 and rwd. You'd have to get an Impala SS, Monte Carlo SS, Buick Lacrosse, or Grand Prix GXP for a fwd 5.3

You are correct! '05- Grand Prix GXP, '06-'09 Impala SS, and '06-'08 Monte Carlo SS... I didn't know about the Buick.
All of these "W" platform cars 5.3s were aluminum rated at 303 hp and 323 ft lbs of torque.

Hope your buddy gives it a good home, those are really cool cars! The VG30Es are bulletproof. My '90 GXE had over 350K miles on it when I totaled it and it still ran great. (Most of the time, unless it was raining and something electrical was unhappy with me) It was my first car, I still miss it sometimes.

I think I went through something like five RE4F02A automatic transmissions before I finally got rid of my second GXE and accepted the fact that the 5 speed SE was the only model worth owning.
Yeah he actually wants to keep it stock and just drive it,repair the rust and sunbaked interior and keep it nice. He’s more into nissans than I am anyway so I feel like he’s getting the better deal lol. I keep telling him to just do the head swap to keep from changing timing belts every 60-80k but he wants to keep the vg30 heads for some reason

Did a little measuring the other day..it’d be reallllly hard to make a 5.3 fit but it might be doable lol. Had an idea that might work for the rear engine idea though,just rob the rear end of a fiero and find a way to shift it with the front engine. I’ve got a few ideas thanks to the twin engine vr6 golf I seen on 1320. But that being said,I might go with supercharged 3800s,series 2..I had one a few years ago in a gtp coupe,had a smaller pulley,e85 tune,headers and slp mufflers and it would make that big ass w body fly. If I could just get ahold of two to cam out with bigger superchargers and good tunes,I should have one menacing grocery getter lol

That was kind of my plan. Build it for boost until it was time for a big swirlyboi,but I have too many projects as it is. And I can’t find any parts for the poor maxima so it’s my buddies problem now lol
