Do it, you will wonder why they didn't come that way factory.

I still have a '97 k1500 short bed 3 door z71 that I have owned since new. In the first year of ownership my rear window got broken moving a tool box, and I replaced the solid glass with a three piece unit. It has never leaked, though i have been mindful of keeping the track clean, and it was not noticeably louder.

It had been handy when I want to carry something like molding or something else long and light with the ability to just open the window and slide it in.

I have been thinking about buying one of the three window electrics, just to put on a shelf for when I get around to repainting my truck replacing it at the same time.

I like the sliding rear windows, but like others have said, mine started to leak after 1 year in my 98. It leaks on the top right, so I cannot go into a automatic touchless wash without water falling on the rear seat.

I had a slider on my 88 C1500 RCLB and it had a metal clasp. My dually has a way crappier version with the rubber falling down and a plastic clasp. I think the 88 had felt in the tracks, it worked much smoother.

I like the slider a little bit. But I prefer the single pane. Sliders leak over time and are a common break in point for thieves. Easily broken into through a slider.

I broke into mine with a flathead screwdriver. Seeing how it had the metal clasp, I didn't break anything in doing so.

We had a four piece sliding window installed as part of the sale in ‘88. It’s a std cab long bed ‘88 Silverado. It’s quiet and doesn’t leak.
