Hey guys, I've owned my 1992 K1500 for about 4-5 years now, it's been in my family since it was brand new, Im in the process of making it more to my likings now that I have a decent paying job. I've always heard if you replace the rear window it's going to leak no matter what, I don't mind paying a professional to do it though. Has anybody here switched from solid to a 3 piece before (https://www.carid.com/cr-laurence/s...880s.html?filter=1&view=959838&year_id=116291), did you have any leaks? My interior panels are out right now since I got the headliner redone and I still need to get my windshield tinted before they go back in, so I'd like to do this as soon as possible if it will come out alright and not leak. Also if you guys now how to replace some broken interior panel clips let me know in the comments, I had a few of them break trying to get them out. I appreciate the help and knowledge, here's a short video of my truck, enjoy!

That's not true about the leak. As a fellow short box, regular cab owner who had a sliding window- DON'T DO IT! Those things leak, they're noisy and the tabs which keep the window together always break. One of the best things I ever did was replace that window with a tinted one piece with defrost. Just did that this year, very cool. Adding defrost was really easy too, was plug and play once I got the harness and switch. Well, I had to fabricobble a location for the switch to go in the dash bezel but it looks fact-tree.

My bro had a ‘97 with the 3 piece (sliding window didn’t split down the middle, it was one piece). He owned it for 12 years, after the first year it started leaking around the outer perimeter of the window, he had safelite come out and reset the entire window. He never had any more issues with it. The clips never broke either, maybe the 3 piece style is a little more robust than the one the splits in the middle..

Yeah the 4 piece with the middle split always seem to be weak. 3 piece is better. Power slider (made by CR Laurence as well) is pretty nice; had one on my '92. They get sluggish with age though.

Im not really worried about the noise, my exhaust is pretty loud as well as my mud tires, I don't drive it everyday, mainly on the weekends I work.

I drive my truck every day. On the freeway, my truck could have been known as Whistlin' Willie. Thanks to rust and help from a sawzall, my exhaust has been loud for the past several months and will be until spring. I could still hear the whistle over the exhaust, and one of the panes would vibrate with the exhaust from time to time. So glad that thing is out of there. Like SoG said, the three piece windows are most likely better. The early Ford stuff we owned was the same way.
