Does anyone know if the upper control arms that come with Rough Country’s 2-3” leveling kit are shaped to help prevent the control arm from bottoming out on the bump stop on the frame? Their website speaks to the better ball joint angle, but not any improvement to the bump stop clearance.

I bought the rough country Control arms. The angles were better but I couldn't get it aligned properly even with the t-bars cranked all the way up. So I put the factory ones back on

Do not know but, ball joint spacers can help. I ran them with Fabtech uppers and never had an issue... I didnt jump the truck but, did drive it pretty hard off-road.

I think if I was trying to cobble a “proper crank lift” (which is a thing just nobody does it) I would look seriously at balljoint spacers.
Several trucks use them. They would help upper balljoint angles and clearance to the bumpstops

So it aligned better with factory arms? That seems counterintuitive but I'll buy it nonetheless.

Based on the way the BJs install I'm having a hard time visualizing how this would work.

balljoint would get flipped to the bottom of the arm like on the 2500/3500 trucks and a spacer installed between them.
Definitely need the knock-outs and eccentrics

Typically a bj spacer goes between a bolt in spacer and the arm. These are pressed in so not seeing how a spacer could function in a 400.

I have heard elsewhere about alignment issues with the control arm kit.

The bj goes up from the bottom side with longer bolts and a spacer so the bj is no longer captured by the control arm in the event of bolt failure.
