I have 2 pairs of spyder glass lenses in my trucks. They have a couple design flaws that Iv noticed.

first was immediately one of the lense, right or left cant remember, the hole for one of the bulbs is slightly to big. Easily remedied with a larger gauge o ring on the bulb, be careful not to touch the bulb. I also used the supplied screw holes and put self tapping screws with lock washers on top to really lock the bulb inside.

Second was the release screws that let the lenses out from the front are kind of loose so I tightened them up somehow that I cant remember. I also put antisieze on these and the adjusters, hopefully they wont ever lock up.

3rd is dammit one of the 4 I have leaked. I finally took it out, dried it up and resealed it with high temp silicone, sealed all 4 just to be safe.

They are glass and I think these flaws are easily remedied and yes i would buy them again. My first set is about 5 years old. I have 4 high and low mods, basically standard cheap bulbs. They are so much brighter than with the oem wiring that they are like new bulbs. In fact I had the sylvania silverstars and although i didnt touch the bulbs they burnt out in like 14 months? I put the ones I took out back in, maybe 4 years ago?

Naw your eyes are fine it's just the lenses and the old smaller gauge wiring...

Good to know.
Always a good practice to seal any headlight assemblies with high temp silicone.

For what it's worth, I have not had to do this with any of the Anzo 111004s I've dealt with. Which has been three sets total. They've all been good straight out of the box. As an added bonus the backing plates and adjusters actually work, and allow you to align everything pretty well. I installed a different, cheaper aftermarket set for someone else and had to re-use the factory backing plates to get a good fit.

This is an older picture but it gives a good idea of how well the Anzos fit. I see lots of these trucks with aftermarket housings that aren't aligned properly in the grille openings and it really bugs me.

One thing I will mention about the Anzos though... If you look closely at the bottom of the low beam reflector in that picture you can see a small drain hole. These are covered with little screen stickers from the factory. Don't make the mistake I did with my first set and remove them. They're designed to create a vent/drain but also keep water from flying up into the bottom of the housings. I went through a car wash with the DRLs on and a drop of water flew up and hit the bulb, which caused it to explode inside the housing. Hence the reason I've bought three sets of the Anzos...

Lol! Sounds like something I would do!

One more note about bulbs. If you want even more brightness from your high beams, you can use Philips 9011 HIR bulbs instead of the factory 9005s. You just have to trim one tab and they'll drop right into the factory 9005 sockets. Like so:

I would not recommend doing this with your low beams, as the 9012 HIR bulb does not have a glare cap painted onto the tip of the bulb, where the factory 9006 does. The only time I'd upgrade a 9006 to a 9012 in one of these trucks is if you're running a set of headlight housings with a glare cap over the low beam bulb. Otherwise the 9012 HIR will create hotspots and glare that will annoy other drivers.

Either Daniel Stern or the Candlepower forum (can't remember which) recommended the ADO-HIR1

I remember reading that, those are supposedly great 9011s. IIRC there was another one made by Vosla which was comparable but I can't remember the model number. Unfortunately they're both pretty expensive and sometimes difficult to find. These standard Philips 9011s are cheaper and more common, plus I've read that they perform similarly to the more expensive options. Maybe not the best of the best, but there's a decent chance you could go pick one up at your local parts store if you need it ASAP.

Somebody posted these up a while back from eBay. Decided to get a pair and try them since my old housings were yellowed up.

These are the typical Chinese junk IMO. Crappy brackets, adjusters, all that. The lenses are plastic but they actually felt pretty hefty compared to the ones that I had. Worst thing about these are easily the adjusters.

I did take the extra step and apply some UV resistance film onto the lenses to prolong their lifespan. Installed them Sep 2019 and they still look brand new. (also ignore all the extra silicone I've long since scraped off from resealing them for my halos)
