The truck has been acting up a lot recently, getting worse last week. She's idling rough, the transmission is slamming into 2nd pretty damn hard and when cruising between 40 -55 mph the rpms bounce.

With the transmission slamming its not consistent, sometimes it hits hard and jerks the truck other times it shifts completely normal, it has the code P1870 so I'll have to fix that.

I just wanted to share that I had an issue with the 4L60E transmission in my 99 that sounds very similar to yours. The torque converter clutch would constantly engage/disengage around 45-50 mph and 2nd gear shift was extremely harsh with code P1870 when the trans warmed up after driving a while or towing. I finally diagnosed a worn regulator/isolator valve in the valve body which is apparently fairly common on the 4l60e. I ended up reaming the valve body and installing an oversized Sonnax regulator/isolator valve. I also installed a Sonnax Perf. Pack to convert the pulse width modulation of the torque convertor to simple on/off, improve shift characteristics, and prevent a couple more potential issues. Transmission now shifts better and the TCC no longer cycles on/off in the 45-50 mph range. Not saying that is entirely your issue, but sounds very similar.

Well, I goofed that one up. Here it is again.

Transmission now shifts better and the TCC no longer cycles on/off in the 45-50 mph range. Not saying that is entirely your issue, but sounds very similar.

Drove the truck a little bit Thursday, damn I miss it. Took it for a low speed cruise through the new neighborhood and on a side street, still very broken but still awesome.

I went and looked at a burb yesterday, it was pretty sweet and sold me on getting one. Hoping to get it this weekend if things work out and Ms.Ferguson gets sold.

In my humble opinion, one of the few things Burbs aren't as good for as pickups, is if you have grungy stuff to haul. The pickup bed can be hosed out. Hard to get grease, oil or transmission fluid out of carpet LOL. But if you ever have the need to haul people around in comfort and style, it's hard to beat a Burb!
:boti:Many have tried, very few have succeeded......
Suburban gets it DONE! For 85 years and counting!

...Ahem. (In my Spongebob theme song pirate voice)
"Whoooooo- seats 6 big people so comfortably? (CREW- CAB CHE-VY!)
Has 8 feet of bed be-hind the back seat? (CREW- CAB CHE-VY)..."
