I have a lead on a set of 16.5” old school aluminum slotted mag wheels in 8x6.5 bolt pattern. I’ve seen these on the back of 2wd 2500 trucks. With stock front wheels/tires. I Think this was standard Redneck trim level around here. But I have never seen a 2500 4wd with these wheels. Has anybody ever seen this setup? If so, did it look good? I can get these for $300 total. But freakin tires are $250 plus.
Thanks for opinions.!

The only difference between 16" and 16.5" wheels is the 16.5s have a tapered bead the 16s are flat/vertical. Otherwise they're the same height. We had trailers with both and our Ford 3/4HD or 1 ton trucks had 16s. I used the same spare that came with the trucks on all of them.

Are you sure those are 16.5 and not 16?
16.5 went away long long ago
On a 4x4 you need too look at wheel offset and backspace more than on a 2 wheel.
Doesnt matter much anyway.
You cant run different size tires front to back on a 4x4
Things will break.
Expensive things.

Yes I’m sure they’re 16.5. And I know they went away long ago. Hence the “old school” description. I’m not planning on running two different size tires. I was explaining that’s what used to be common around here. (On 2wd).
I have never seen these wheels on a 4wd. That’s why I asked if anyone had seen this. I got the verdict from my 17 yo son. He says they would look like I don’t have enough money for “cool” wheels. But I think I need a little more convincing.
PlayingWithTbi, that crossed my mind. That they were originally trailer wheels. I don’t guess that would matter. But at $250-370 per tire, I think I’m gonna stick with stock 16” right now.

Yes I have some of those wheels like you described. They're 16.5, 8 lug, and the tire price is why I haven't even tried to sell them. Dad bought them 20 plus years ago, for another unfinished project. They'd look cool on an older truck, but in this case, "old school looks " are a wee bit expensive.

250 A tire up here aint unusual 370? yikes! I paid right through the nose a few years ago on a new set of Duratracs.. Hated the damn things but they just wouldnt wear out
They do last a long damn time... of hate.
Finnally wore em out and went back to BFG All Terrains.
Which arent exactly cheap either
When I bought it, it had brand new "pegusis" tires
Which are crap.
I chucked those sponges after a week
I found out that the 265/75/16 seems to be a pretty good size for stock trucks

Yes sir I had a company truck for 20 years. So paying $1100-1300 a set was no big deal, (when it wasn’t my money). I mainly bought tires for my Jeep tj. I can get a set of descent mud tires for $400-600. When I started pricing 10 ply quality tires for my 2500 i quickly saw where stock sizes actually looked pretty good on my old truck.!

The duratracs were 285/75/16 and I put them on it cuz I was pretty involved with dragging old rusty "classics" out of the mud.
But, they were loud as hell on the road.
Really friggen loud.
Somebody on this forum pointed out that they were probably "cupped" and that was causing the noise.
Good chance that was the case.
The front end on these trucks are pretty wimpy and I was beating the snot out of it with what I was doing and the wear from oversize tires.
But damn, they were loud when they were brand new
