Looking at going with a digital dash ; Dakota digital seems to be the go to.

I emailed the seller (only) person on ebay who has them listed. There is a pretty good delay rite now. He asked what tranny i had... Im assuming it is a 4l60e (1993 k1500) .

Can anyone confirm it has a 4l60 and not 700r4? my reason is i need to see if i need to buy the gear shift kit as well..

Also, when i buy the dash, will everythibg connect right up ? Any major modifications? Or anyone with a dakota digital can give more input on the gear range placement please.

“Quote from seller”

for a 700r4 you will need the GSS3000 gear shift selector kit to add on to the gauge kit. If you had a newer 4l60 or electronic trans. It could communicate with the gauge kit via the trans computer.

Here is a link to the GSS3000...

Just so you know also... right now Dakota is taking about 6 to 8 weeks to ship this kit. They have all of a sudden become super popular this year.

I answered your other post a few minutes ago, here's the one for your truck. I just ordered mine direct from Dakota Digital. I'd talk to them 1st. I didn't need a gear position switch on my 88 but maybe the 92+ set is different.

Here's how you can tell the difference between the 2 trans.

Evening, have you install you gauges yet and what kind of difficulties did you run into. I'm thinking of buying the same setup.

Yeah, about 6 - 8 years ago, ha ha. There's some wiring that needs to be done but, if you follow the directions carefully it's not too bad. I put the 2 switches for the bottom readouts on the left of the column below the vent facing down. I reused all of the original senders but the ECT. The tach input connected right to the coil's white wire.

Thank you and your welcome for the LOL. I'm considering this swap or the Intellitronix LED digital gauges. Dakota looks more involved but that doesn't bother me. I also have an 88, 5.7liter. Trying to find some thoughts on these two units. Being yours has been install for so long and still functional says a lot for Dakota. Thank you again TBI, you are a great help.

Yeah, on my original post I should have said "I simply ordered it direct" instead of "I just ordered it direct" :anitoof:

Yes it's been reliable and easy to calibrate for different size tires. One thing though, I should have ordered the "Teal" dash instead of "Blue", it would have matched better with the CS controls.
