I have my 98 K1500 with the 5.0L an my gas gauge isn't working, an my speedo is about 20km off, so I was wondering if there were some tips on what I should look at before going and replacing the cluster.... do note that I have put a brand new sending unit in the truck

I had similar problems with my 88 C1500 - 1st the odometer quit working, then the gas gauge would only read 1/4 when full, then the temp was inaccurate. It was the cluster, I replaced it with a Dakota Digital dash because, at the time, it was cheaper than a reconditioned OEM cluster. I love that it has 2 trip odometers, 0-60mph time, 1/4 mile time and trap speed, highest RPM, on the bottom 2 displays. The speedometer is easily calibrated for each vehicle and gear change without having to adjust the DRAC

My odometer hasn’t worked for 20 years and I finally decided to replace it with a used one I found on eBay. Worked great for a couple weeks then my gas gauge only reads at 1/4 full now.
Time to take it back apart. Maybe I can get one good solid one from both.
