Am I supposed to have a 2 piece driveshaft?

Holy crap Batman, that's expensive!
And looks like not only is part of the brackets missing, but the under pan (red sheet metal) on the passenger side looks kinda bent up too. Looks like a knuckle buster or hand/arm slicer if you got too close. Don't know about y'all but I'm not particularly fond of truck bites and bleeding all over the place!
And aren't those "bolts " like grade 2 threaded rod or something? Jeez there are some idiots who should refrain from "fixing " stuff........

That shaft hanging down like that, seems like if you got on the throttle hard or shifted the wrong way, it'll come loose from the bearing and get friendly with the gas tank....and not in a good way!

I have searched for 6 hours now, trying to find pictures of this and how it mounts, some people say it’s a crossmember, some say it’s just a drop bracket. And the driveshaft length difference between 1 and 2 piece is almost 5”

Been a while since I dealt with one like this, but search YouTube for “carrier bearing fix 95 Silverado” and you can see an example of one that is similar to what yours likely had. A crossmemeber with a drop bracket.
