AMC was hot back then. My aunt bought a brand new Pacer wagon, just slightly longer than the one pictured above. It was bright yellow, with wood grain on the lower half. At the same time, my parents had a V8 Gremlin X. Metallic turd brown. lol
I have an older cousin who had a gremlin x back in the day. It had been worked over to make it more of a drag car. 4 speed, wide drag slicks and the engine had been gone through. It was lime green with a white hockey stick stripe down the side. He has pictures of that damn thing pulling the tires off the ground. Lol

I always liked the AMC Eagle, four wheel drive sedan, slightly lifted from the factory was just too cool, and unlike anything else on the road. The Spirits were kind of cool too.

Parents had an AMC Jeep in the early 80s that was fun too. Manual trans and side pipes. They don't make them like they use to.

While I was a senior in high school, I worked the afternoons at a Lincoln Mercury dealer as a flunky mechanic. After I graduated in 1978, I went to work for an AMC Jeep dealer for a while. The Pacer was a POS. The AMX was bad ass, but the Jeeps from the 1960s through the early 1980 were very good vehicles. We also sold Subaru at the Jeep dealer. They were also very good vehicles. We had a honey bee farmer that would only drive the Jeep gladiator pickup. He said it was the toughest pick up on the market back then. Not to mention the v-8 CJ7. It was a beast, with the AMC 360 CI engine.
