I'm posting this here because your license plate is very much a visual part of our trucks. I value my peers opinions, so feel free to share, please.

My state sucks on many levels when it comes to choices (has improved some, but not enough).
Depending on the plate you choose, you either get what you're given, or you can personalize it for an extra fee (charged yearly). NOW, depending on your choice, it's either a 5 digit or a 6 digit plate (digits=spaces). Hard to come up with something catchy using only 5 or 6 spaces...

"But wait!! -There's more!!!"
If your vehicle is 25 years old or older, you can get an "Antique Plate". One style, no personalized options, get what you get.
The up-side is, it's a one time cost and it never expires or needs renewed. The down side is, it's HORRENDOUSLY ugly and outdated!

The cost for the first one (personalized) is $46 initially and $46 per year.
The second one (personalized) is $81 initially, and $56 a year after that.
The antique plate is $59 ONCE, and that's all.

So help me out here... I have my "personalization" in mind for the top one (GMT400 was one I was considering, but settled on something else). The Antique plate would more than pay for itself by the second year... what to do?

I have a hard time calling these trucks "antiques" regardless of any state definition, but I won't hate on somebody else who feels differently. They're called vanity plates for a reason, you're paying to look different than others, so if you can afford it, get what you want. Personally, I'm a bit disappointed that you didn't choose "1TNOFN"

At least in AZ the historic plates look good, made of copper too. They're $25 and $10/year plus registration is $118 for 5 years.

I like that!:waytogo:
Yeah, I agree, that does look pretty slick. I just feel like classics are from 80s and older, and antiques are even older, like from the 50s or 60s. This is all just my opinion, I understand the legal definition, just feel weird calling my truck an antique is all. More comfortable with historic or maybe classic, but it's not my place to define these terms for others.

Vanity plates are usually part of my mods. I have several currently,
LOW LEX on a dropped Lexus, sold the car to one of my kids let him leave it in my name so he can keep the plate.
QWK FODO on my Mercedes S55 (four doors and it ain't slow)
LOW FODO on the 07 crew ordered but not arrived yet. (see reasoning above)
COOL LOW on the dually (say it in Spanish)

In 2010, when we bought the POS PT Crusier, the person before us got ozy 665. I said Ii would pay and extra $100 for ozy 666, but was informed that our state makes no plate with the number 666. So anyway, Louisiana only requires a rear plate. So this leaves the front holder open for anything you want to put on there. So about 2 weeks ago, I put this on the front of my truck.
