Yes the shop told me they could replace the tank, but it would only be another $100 to do the whole radiator. So since I intend to keep the Burb, I went ahead and had them replace the radiator. I had replaced the clamps with the worm drive ones already, and have since replaced the water pump and both radiator hoses.
Edit: you also need to change the 2 molded bypass hoses when you do the water pump. And definitely replace the clamps on these too. These are a right ******* to get to so best to do it all at once.

I cheaper out and did the tank in 2012. Still kicking!

Just FYI, there are much cheaper places to get durable silicone caps for those coolant ports. If you search eBay or McMaster-Carr for "5/8 silicone caps" you'll find a ton of them in all different colors. I bought some black ones from China for less than a dollar each IIRC and haven't destroyed one yet. Been on a couple years at least.

I'm sure those HPS ones are great but $15 for a silicone cap? Ouch.

I looked at the cheap ones on fleabay, but anything of a decent thickness comes from Chine. This is made from the same material as they make their hoses from. I'd rather not experience what @east302 did. I figured I'd better just buy one as mine's bound to screw up now. I also have an upper rad hose on the way to replace the original and so I'll install both at the same time.

Just bought this one. $18 with tax and free shipping.

I wish someone made silicone hoses for these trucks. Don't care if they were $200, they would be worth every penny.
So I found someone that makes them, however it is cheap, ****** chinese company known as OBX. I have my doubts but for $126 to my door I am going to order a set. I am sure they will probably outlast the engine or my use for the van. Even cheap silicone hoses are surely better than the cheap overpriced rubber crap Gates or the other parts house brands including Delco sell. The Evans Waterless coolant I am going to run lasts forever and at $50 a gallon I want it to stay in the cooling system.
