That’s the thing. I don’t know. When I bought it 5 years ago it needed to be charged. So I never used it, got it charged then was told it needed a compressor, saved money bought a remanufactured compressor, it imploded filled everything with aluminum shavings and then here I am years later and have everything new and BANG. I was wondering the same thing. Because when I put everything back together I couldn’t get the radio to work at all! I’ve followed all the wires under the dash and looked for a short and checked all the harnesses. I mean I’ve spent hours doing all that. I feel like when I removed the dash, I messed up some wires leading to the firewall but I don’t see any issues. Previous owner was old millionaire who bought it brand new. It has 230,000 miles and runs great. He babied it. I can’t afford to take it to a mechanic.
Well I'm gonna have to sit on this one. I'm definitely leaning towards a short or burnt wire. Just dont get how it can fry the electronics without blowing fuses. If you look at the engine bay and under the motor you made sure no wires are burnt, missing, touching metal right?
ues IBe looked. But I’m going to look again. Is there some sort of tool I can put on or touch a wire to see if it has an open ground?

I remember for my fuses I used a light tester but that only works if you have power on. Also I use a voltmeter to test other electrical components

Common problem on a lot of electrical systems.most of the time when you see burned plugs with a wire end melted or a post on a switch. Its the connector it self. After time the end becomes loose that creates resistance and that creates heat.melt down. The relay for the a/c clutch should be in the power box under the hood. The same thing happened here as well.Look at bottom of relay for a burnt post.Check were the relay plugs in as well. You can bend the ends to tighten up, but will not last.Pull the wire out of the plug.Cut the end off and install a new one.You can check this easy.If the system is charged and blower motor working.Start unit, turn on a/c and blower.Open hood pull cover from power box locate relay for a/c twist relay. You should hear the clutch in gauge and it may work tell you shut the engine off.

so I put the new resister on the AC box. Waiting on the new little resister for me to speed on the hvac controls after watching a few YouTube videos. Notice the plug on the blower is melted as well. So that’s two melted / burned plugs on my ac system. I’m scared to test it and re-burn my new plugs.

Man I wonder what caused all these burnt wires..
Ok. So I jumped the safety capacitor on the HVAC controls that would turn the AC off if the fan wasn’t now. And I replaced the blower and wiring. Now all speeds work on my blower. I can change the vests as well now. The AC button light stays on now when fan is engaged.
Only issue now is the AC WONT ENGAGE!!!!

also I replaced transistor on top of hvac box. I’m going to test all the switches. I just tested them a few days ago and everything was good. So I am making progress. Now I just got to get the AC to turn on!

Did you connect the low pressure switch?
I connected it but it’s not installed yet. Need to drop it off tomorrow or Thursday

Even with it connected it still won’t turn on. I don’t know. Maybe these controls are fried as well.

Connect between the two wires of the connector for the LP switch without it installed and see what happens. If it fires up don't leave it running.

I tested low side high side and the other switch one at a time. Nothin. I jumped all three switches and nothing. I jumped the relay and it works. So it’s got power and all the switches are good. I think the problem must be the AC butting wire running from the controls to the relay. I guess I need to check if pressing the ac butting send a signal to the relay? I’m not sure how to.
