235/75 will fit on an 8" wheel, but fits best on a 7" wheel. That's what the aluminum factory ones like most Burbs have (see my profile picture) are IIRC. Got Coopers on it 2 years ago, just regular truck tires, nothing fancy. They were a good deal at NTB. Got them after the front brakes and upper ball joints replacement and alignment. They've held up pretty well.

Pretty sure we've seen the same Cooper 235/75's on the same stockers. ;) When whatshername's '93 (ex) needed tires, went to NTB and got her a new set. The old 275/60's on 8" Rallys were getting worn so I grabbed the aluminum stockers off my maroon '94 and she got new tires. The tires were fine but for 235/75's man they look skinny even on a 7" wheel. I have seen ones that looked even skinnier, though.

These particular 235/75's would be obviously funky on an 8"

Back in the parts house days Dad had a 78 Sierra long bed that was the shop truck. After it got fixed from the wreck when it was just under a year old, he decided to trick it out some. Got a set of the factory wagon wheels that were 15x8 and put Goodyear GTRadials on it, white outline letters, LR60/15. Dropped it like 3 or 4 inches, sat beautifully, looked cool with the wheels, bumpers and mirrors color matching the Colonial Yellow paint. That was a badass truck, we also put headers on it and duals with Walker blue glasspacks. Sounded like it had a cam in it but fully stock internally. I think in modern tire sizes that is equivalent to 275/55.....It also made a nice step to swing myself up into the bed from the side. And no tire rub issue, just had to change the speedometer gear. Square body trucks were just a little easier to do some stuff on......

No, you're right. A lot of the 235/75's look terrible, the Wranglers are a little bit different. I actually had 235/75 on my 88' on 15x8 rims until a mouth ago, so glad I went to a 275/60/15 but that truck is at stock height.

I am running 20x10 rims center set
275/40/20 b f Goodrich tires. They worked with a little massaging. 19 mm positive offset would have been perfect. Also 4/6 bell tech lowering kit w/c notch. This lowering, wheel tire thing can make you crazy
I always thought that 40 was a profile series. Now I have been informed that it is a percentage of the tire width. It pays to study hard and ask for advice in this area

I think I've found the wheel for the rear
15x8 with 4 1/4 backspacing
So would you advise a 7 in front with 4 inch backspacing or try the 8 with4 1/4 like the rear?
I found these 245 40 18 on 8's and 255 40 18 on 9 1/2 rears 0 offset front and back. New tires and wheels for 950.00 locally . I'd like to stick with the corvette rally style but these are tempting

Make sure you check the dates codes on the tires. The tread may be good but if the tires are old, they're junk.

Its the aspect ratio, but yes, its a percentage of the width. 275/60 would be 60% of 275 so the side wall should be 165mm tall. A 235/75 would be 176mm tall.

18" wheels are a no go. Just too short of a sidewall. Guess I'm back to the 15's. What would 255 60 15 all around look like on 4/6 drop with 15x8 rear 4 1/4 backspacing and 15x7 front same backspacing. And i have exhausted all avenues for the upper shock mount. No one has them. Would it hurt very much with using just the lower mount extensions?

A 295/45/18 is lil over 28” tall. What I plan on running once I get enough to buy tires, and get right size spaced/adapter for vette wheels. 275/50/17 fronts....
