Well. Life continues even with covid. Working from home has its ups and downs.

Got a short weekend junkyard getaway with @88GMCtruck and found lots of goodies.

To say the 88 he just restored is beautiful would be a massive understatement. New trucks aren’t that nice.

The yards up there are truly a haven for gmt400 trucks.

And I decided to get back to focusing on the interior. A while ago I grabbed a replacement passenger seat track for my truck. Current one rocks pretty badly - makes for an unenjoyable ride for passengers. So I finally broke down and started cleaning it up. It was pretty disgusting.

I still need to finish that up, then do the driver side. Then they can go in with the new carpet. Also rolled over 140k at some point.

Can I ask what those SFJ patches are for any why you're collecting them?

So all of our trucks at one point had a set of frame tags on them. My truck had a partial one left but the other one was missing. I’ve been trying to figure out the correct one for my truck, and have been collecting ones that I think are correct.

So for example. All 96 year extended cab short bed K 1500 trucks I Have come across have the SFJ tag. All of the 97K1500 ECSB trucks I’ve found have SLN.

My theory is that these were production and identification tags used during frame assembly and shipment, and as a quick check for the assembly line to make sure they had the correct chassis for that particular build that day. Much easier to see a tag on the chassis than to go looking for the small part number located above the passenger rear axle. But this is just a theory.

So now I record the vin and tag number on all 96 trucks I find in hopes of determining if this is the correct tag for my truck.
