I do not know. It wasn't connected when I bought the truck.

Uh oh... That's not good. From what I've read, running with that cable disconnected or adjusted improperly will smoke a 700-R4 pretty quick.

Is it that it quits working when it gets a little warm? That's usually bad pump. I've had a few parts trucks I bought cheap with bad transmissions that would yard-drive enough to get them in/out of my shop but let them run a few minutes and they'd stop moving.

it works ok until it has run s few minute. some times she wont move period, even when cold.

I drove her a bit before changing the fluid and she went fine, but after fluid and filter change..... she started acting up.

Sounds like time to believe the shop that told you that you need a rebuild. :(

Check around for places with a solid reputation in your area.

Running the 700R4/4L60 with the throttle valve cable disconnected or adjusted too loose spells a quick death to the trans.

Dont even start it without the throttle valve cable installed and adjusted correctly.
Do not do anything untill you follow the EXACT GM service procedure for the tv cable.
It is not as simple as pushing the button and pulling out the slack.
There is a bit more including linkage geometry.
A lot of people will tell you that the 4l60 is just a re-labelled 700R4.
This is not true.
They have quite a few internal differences.
But the thing that remains constant between the 700r4 and the 4l60 is TV cable adjustment.
If it has a cable from the throttle body, its not a 4l60E. They are electronic not cable.
The 4l60 is kind of an oddball and can be expensive and kinda hard to find parts for.
