Ok...Here we go;
I changed my fluid and filter months ago. I took the truck out once or twice. Walked out to my shop a few days later, to find a large puddle of fluid flowing from under my truck. The fluid drained out of the yoke. I had a really small hole in the cap.

took the rear transmission shaft cover off, to find a couple issues. I missing the rear shaft sleeve, and the previous owner had a cable driven speedo gear with a electronic VSS.

I purchased a rear shaft sleeve and installed it. I took the truck out got a few miles from the house and the transmission stopped moving the truck.I got lucky and was sable to nurse her home. Checked the fluid after warming the engine up. Topped it off and tried taking her out again. Again got a few miles from home and the transmission stopped moving the truck. I had to have her towed home. Got her in the shop, and the transmission started working again. This happened a few more times. Took her out. Had her towed home, and transmission would start working when she is in my shop. I decided to leave her in the shop until I can figure out what is wrong, and get it fixed.
Was just looking for some ideas as to what I might have wrong with the transmission. It worked fine before I changed the fluid and filter. I asked a couple shops and they said,"oh ya. we are going to have to rebuild the transmission." I person told me that it i s a 4L60e, and he had a new one he would put in for 2000. I tried telling him it is a 4L60. the 4L60e did not come into production until I believe 1992.
Thanks for any good information.

Is the TV cable adjusted properly? If it wasn't the trans might need rebuilt already due to burnt clutches.

Definitely not a transmission wizard, but I found this on Google surfing around. GM 700-R4 "Principles Of Operation" manual, second edition. I believe the 4L60 is just a re-named 700-R4.

Might be some interesting reading material if you're bored. I've been trying to find an an actual GM technicians guide on the 700-R4 but no luck so far. I have them for the 4L60E and 4L80E.

Is it that it quits working when it gets a little warm? That's usually bad pump. I've had a few parts trucks I bought cheap with bad transmissions that would yard-drive enough to get them in/out of my shop but let them run a few minutes and they'd stop moving.
