I have looked at so many pictures of wheels I am no longer confident that I can judge the size of the center pads between them/mine. Is it possible this one is smaller than mine?

If I add yet another wheel to my collection, it wouldn’t be all bad. At some point I should have the required components to make the one I need - or not :) If you folks think this wheel is a direct replacement for my broken one, please consider it sold. Sincere thanks to Z71Hobbs for preventing me from becoming unhinged. Df2x4 might have an affordable grant wheel in his future....

Looks like the same wheel to me, although I know you mentioned you've had other issues with fitment even when the replacement looked correct. Maybe take some measurements and post them for comparison?

sorry to jump in post late. During this discussion are we discussing aftermarket wheels that will accommodate the stock center airbag module? Would like to replace my stock leather wheel but not bad enough to spend 1500-2000 for the total job.

You might take a look at a 3/4 ton or above wheel. My C20 doesn't have an air bag. The only problem with the factory C20 wheel is the mount points for the wheel are realy weak. Thats why I had to replace mine. With any kind of upward or downward pressure (I grab the wheel to pull my self in), the aluminum starts cracking. The Grant wheel might have a beefier attaching area. But if you could swap the Grant C10 for a C20 with out airbag, then all you will need is a C20 horn cap. I don't know how hard they would be to find

Yes, the Grant steering wheels that we were discussing are aftermarket wheels (kind of, they're reconditioned and slightly modified OEM wheel bodies) that retain the stock airbag module. I got bored and did a little more research on them just now. Grant makes one for the '95-'98 large center airbag wheels and another for the '98 and up small center airbag wheels. '98 was a split year which could have either, so make sure you get the correct one. I'm not sure if Grant makes anything for the non airbag wheels but I couldn't find them if they do. Here's some links from Summit, I already posted the large center one but I'll repost it here as well.

Grant part number 61031 ('95-'98 large center leather wrapped airbag wheel):

Grant part number 61034 ('98+ small center leather wrapped airbag wheel):

The Grant wheel might have a beefier attaching area.

Not likely, as alpinecrick mentioned earlier the Grant wheels are refurbished and slightly modified OEM wheels. The attachment points and frame are still factory. From what I read in the Summit reviews Grant sends an offer in the box to buy back your old wheel as a core.
