Hello, I am new to this forum and I'm looking for some knowledge from people that are more familiar with OBS GM vehicles than I am.
I'm in the market for a new daily driver and I think it would be fun to get an off road capable vehicle that I could take camping in the Sierras. I really like the OBS 4 door Tahoes and I would get one and put a ~3 inch lift on it with some 33x10.5 tires. While this would be a fun car off road and fit my camping desires I am concerned that the gas mileage would be too bad to deal with as a daily driver.

What gas mileage would I get with a set up like this?
Whats the minimum I would have to lift the Tahoe to fit 33s without any major trimming?
What suspension lifts would you suggest?
Would re-gearing the diffs be essential with 33s?

Thanks!

If you are concerned about in town fuel mileage for some reason you will definitely want to regear both diffies
Not to mention drivability.

I’d expect a couple or a few mpg loss, I ran 285/75r16s (Which is close to a 33x11.5) on my 97 K1500 with a little crank and got about 11-12 mpg, whereas now at stock height and 265/75r16s I’m getting 14 mpg.

When I had some -12mm offset 16x8s with the 285s, I didn’t have to do any trimming. I also don’t have the valance, so if a Tahoe has one, you will need to trim that if you are running a negative offset rim. I believe others have gotten away with running 33s w/ stock rims and had to do little to no trimming.

x2 on @90halfton’s statement. If a Tahoe has 3:42s, regear it ASAP. If it has 3:73s, you will be fine.

A 255/85r16 is what you want. I have a set of Toyo MT waiting for me when I get the dually fixed.

I always ran 255/85r16 on my square body trucks. Won't this 33" tire require trimming out on the fender wells? My 265/75r16s that I have now rub sometimes. My 97 k2500 is stock.
