Going to be looking at this 96 GMC half-ton tomorrow morning: https://cedarrapids.craigslist.org/ctd/d/center-point-1996-gmc-sierra-sle-xcab/7125216978.html

Has quite a bit of miles, but looks fairly clean from the pics, but not sure until I go and look at it. The interior is pretty nice, even has keyless entry, but no overhead console... which is kinda weird, since it's a well optioned SLE, but honestly I never use them, so it's not a deal breaker for me. The thing I am skeptic about is if the stainless panels are hiding something.

They did take a pic of it running, oil pressure seems to be fine for it having that many miles. The thing I am going to question them is if the tranny has been rebuilt or not, if it hasn't, I would be surprised it lasted that long.

Though, the truck is pretty much what I've been looking for (x-cab, green, tan interior, fairly clean) and the stuff I'd want on it. I'd just need to get a factory style headlight/parking light/side marker set from RockAuto, LED tails, plus a tonneau cover, and I'll be set.

Looked at it this morning, it was rustier than I thought. They had undercoated everything to make it seem like there was minimal rust. Sneaky dealerships...

I think I am just going to keep my 97, there is next to nothing that is worth buying at this time. I am in the process of taking off the stainless trim (the rocker trim is a huge PITA) and removing a lot of stuff on it, like the headache rack, push bar, tow mirrors, bed caps, 285's, and maybe the step bars. And maybe put the stock exhaust back in it. I am wanting to look like it did when I got it, just wanting it to be more basic again.

Not trying to rag on anyone who likes those little chrome panels on the bottom, but I have always been suspicious of them. Every one I have seen with them on it, were hiding all kinds of secrets.

It always struck me as odd living in the Midwest and seeing all the trucks going around with the stainless steel trim knowing they trap **** and rust twice as fast.
Down here looking around I rarely see any trucks running around with it.
But the ones that do have it are always the ones that have rotted out cabs.
