I know this thread is old, but hoping for some help. I installed a overhead console in my 94 Chevy Silverado and wired it in so that it had constant power so that the map lights could be turned on anytime. However, this seems to have the home link illumination lights on constantly. This maybe normal, but I just want to make sure this isn’t going to run my battery down. It came with a wiring harness that only had a black (ground) and red (hot) that connected into the factory wiring. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Tyler

The HomeLink control is also active whenever the key is on, so it does make sense that the whole thing would just have a single ground and switched power connection. It will be a drain on the battery, though it may not be enough to matter. You'd have to check the current draw with a multimeter. The other option would be to break out the harness inside the console and run another wire to switched power specifically for the HomeLink remote.

Thank you for the information!

Does anyone happen to know what the part number is for the map light housings(?) that pop into the two swivels? My console just has two holes that swivel but someone snagged the bulbs/housings from the o/h console. Been searching high and low but can't find these separately.
