So yesterday I bought oil and a filter for this pig, then when I got home convinced myself I'd already done it on the lift back in March. Thanks to me being a post *****, I have confirmed I did not change the oil in March and will now do so. These build threads come in handy like that. I need to cut my oil filter open to double check for metal flakes from running low on oil. Twice.

Did more hauling since running it dry on oil twice, seems unaffected so that's reassuring. The inside of the camper doesn't feel like burnt oil every time we stop either so that's a good proof of concept on my crank vent line. It also seems like it didn't burn any oil to climb from 6000' to close to 10,000' which is new. Got to spend a night in BFE, wish I could have spent more.

Went ahead and got my silicone port installed so I could route crankcase fumes to the intake rather than barfing them out under the hood for me to smell.

See that pretty AN fitting? Its corresponding 90 degree hose fitting ended up being too small, so today I grabbed some crap from Lowe's to make it play nice.

That's more fitting the theme of this truck. And the ghetto ass port I mounted it to. The finished product is still cleaner than what it replaces.

Next step is to summon the motivation to remove lower intake, weld a bung to the oil filler neck, and permanently install that way. So looking like next winter because the truck works and it's race/camp season. I also changed the oil and cut open the filter. Gonna go check on the element as it should be decently drained by now. I burned d!ck all for oil on that camping trip so super happy about that and also changed my once 6 rib now 5 rib blower belt for one that started life as a 5 ribber. Hopefully it doesn't chirp like the old one and I can be done with that battle.

Quite a ride to get to the last post! Hope everything holds out well for you, especially towing the racecar. With the heat/humidity we've had in Northeast KS, I could totally go for some mountain scenery and elevation right now.

So the stupid ass boot on the steering shaft popped out of the firewall for the 407 7th time and today I think I got it snapped back in better than I ever have. Hopefully the ********** stays put this time. I also went about adjusting the over center setting on this box by feel. I immediately went too far and had to back out. May need to back off a smidge more tomorrow. Funny how this reman box had the over center so much closer to maxxed out than the GM box I cranked on on my 1500 way harder. Next I went after the TCC settings and WOT 3-2 downshift on my tune. It would always downshift around 62 WOT before, I dropped it to around 59. Gonna have to see how that feels fully loaded up a giant @ss hill, may drop it a smidge more seeing how that RPM range is right in the meat of max torque for this thing.

It's official, these new brake shoes kick ass. They did get bedded in with the camper and the truck will lock the rear before the front again which is what I wanted. The pedal is now higher, firmer, and, once you're in the brakes decently, more responsive. Time to see what it does with the camper and trailer in a couple of weeks.

I think they're Powerstops? They're the only semi-metallic shoe I could find and they have a GG rating. I have a thread in another section about them. They sucked until they bedded in, now I'm happy. Seeing how they're rears, they took a bit to seat.
