Yes, probably. The weird thing is that they only offered one version of the truck. It's not like they offered the extra functionality for an extra charge.

Anyway, that made the mod extremely simple so... thanks GM :Big Laugh:

Got a 96, @88GMCtruck, when you say the range fell on its face do you mean it had no range at all?

My key fob is a little temperamental, some days I can unlock from at least 25 feet away, some days I have to be right next to the door and still have to mash buttons to unlock. Not sure if it's the fob or module.

I soldered one end but would be interested to know if 2 would be even more effective

Depends on the day lol. This mod plus fresh batteries in the fob makes the best results

Just 1 end was soldered to the board. The antenna in the box is only soldered on one end, as least with my truck.

Brody, it's probably you're remote. You can split it open and clean the contacts with rubbing alcohol and a Q-tip (Like a VHS player) and it should help. However, if your remote is breaking down like mine then the bottoms of the buttons are deteriorating and you'll just have to clean and clean until you get a new one.

Damn, that's what I was scared of. I just bought this a couple weeks back, it's for a Suburban or 4-door truck but it's the only one I could get from the key fob place. 95-96 are the ones that have the squared fobs.
I'll try cleaning the contacts, I've had it split open a couple times to get it cleaned up, it was super dingy when I got it.
