Did my yearly spray-can undercoating renewal. Wasn’t happy with how it turned out, so decided to redo it properly. This week going to blast the rockers, POR15, then bedliner.

Replaced the power steering pump and hoses. Trimmed the pump bracket for future header clearance. Deleted the entire A/C system, as it has too many leaks to bother tracking down for the 2 days per year I’d need it. While doing that I noticed the lines going to the aftermarket trans cooler grandpa added at some point were weeping. OCD kicked in, so I pulled it and plumbed it to stock cooler in the rad core.

Going to replace the rear main seal, so starting to pull the driveshafts, transfer case and trans. Old trans fluid looked good, no metal or clutch material in the pan. T-case is weeping, looks like it’s been apart before it, as the case is sealed with RTV. So OCD necessitates a pause again while I order all new gaskets and seals. Feels like I always have something on the way from Rock Auto. Looking forward to starting on the “fun” stuff once all this necessary work is complete.

I deleted my A/C also. It sure makes it easier to work on stuff. There have been a few times that I miss it...

Debacle. To remove the torque converter shroud the y-pipe needs to come out. No big deal, had a new one on order anyway. Manifold bolts were rusted solid, 4 of the 6 broke off. Halfway through drilling them out and trying to avoid wrecking the manifolds, I said screw it. So some cheapy China stainless amazon headers on order. We’ll see how they fit.

Out with the old. Surprisingly the manifold bolts came off without any drama.
